Little Troopers

Litle Troopers

This has been a long trip for everyone. Our little guys did so very good during almost the entire thing. We didn’t stop nearly as often as I thought we would. Granted we had a Toshiba Thrive, Apple iPad2 and HP Elitepad set of tablets that helped with this. So, thank you engineering for inventing the tablet computer. I would also like to thank my Xterra, Frank, for not breaking down even though he had 200k+ miles on him before we left. Actually it seems like this trip may have helped to seal up some gaskets in the SUV because he seems to be running smoother than ever.

Next Stop….. Yellowstone

Next Stop..... Yellowstone

We finally made it! The last day of our vacation was Yellowstone National Park. The last time we were here was early spring. At that time of the year all of the animals are coming into the area to warm up after the long winter chill.
On our first stop we visited the Paint Pots. Our little guy got to learn about the delicate balance of life, ecosystems and places where bacteria live if they aren’t making us sick/helping us live..

After finally making it to the Yellowstone National Park area the adults stayed up to plan the activities for the next two days. Ultimately we decided on day 1 we would head out to the Grand Tetons and go for a hike followed by a visit to Yellowstone on day 2.
Arriving in the Tetons we found out that this was a very popular place to be as there were a lot of tourists. I ended up buying some bear spray and a survival knife. It’s a great knife and I needed it; don’t judge!
We ended up hiking through the forest and quickly lost most of the other tourists. Little man and mom ended up pressing leaves and flowers in a book along the way while aunt Celia and I took pictures.

Long Haul

Long Haul

We ended up staying in Spokane Washington for the night. I honestly thought that this town would be more than it really was.
When I was 11 one of my friends moved to Spokane. This was a huge deal to me as I hadn’t really been out of the great state of Utah. This led me to have some delusions of grandeur about Spokane. None the less, it was still a nice place.
After this stay we began our long haul with the final destination of Driggs Idaho. This is a long drive that primarily takes you through forest land.

Driving across the state of Washington is not something to be done by people with ADHD. Don’t know what I’m talking about? Check out the route that Interstate 90 takes through Washington. That big straight part is nothing but farm land. It was “exciting” for a moment or two because they had signs on the fence indicating the type of crop we were looking at. However, at the end of this we arrived at a little lake just as the sun was setting.

Big City Girls

In Washington we finally got to meet up with her cousin. Both of them come from a very large city in China so a landscape like this was absolutely captivating to them. What you’re seeing there is Vantage Bridge in Vantage, WA. We decided to rest here for a little bit as we had a very long very straight driving coming up. The best part about this leg of the journey is that these two finally got to be together.
